Have You Ever........?

Have you ever noticed that when people tell you, "If you ever need anything, just let me know", and when you ask for their help, they are never around to offer the help you need?

OR

Have you ever noticed that people who are seeking help for bad behavior (drinking excessively, doing insane stunts, abusing animals/people, etc) actually have the nerve to record such behavior, download it on YouTube or some other source, and THEN try to make it seem like it's no big deal?

OR

Have you ever noticed that as a nation we are distancing ourselves from the principles set forth by the Founding Fathers?

OR

Have you  wondered what it's going to take to get our school systems back on track and out of the political muck system?

These are just a few of the thoughts that seemingly cross my mind throughout any given day. I tell myself that I 'm going to start carrying a small notebook with me and everytime I have a "thought of wisdom", I should write it down, but alas, I forget about it or either I'm too lazy.  But I think it's vital that you track your thoughts just in case you ever decided to write a blog, a journal, or even a book (yes, in the age of Nooks and Kindle's, books still exist!!), you have the material needed to complete a task. Who knows? such ventures could result in a best seller!!

What I try to do through this blog (when I have time to or even remember to write), is to just post what I feel is important to me and maybe even to you. With all the bad that is broadcasted on the internet, the TV, and the radio, I think that even the worse of news can and should be delivered with some positive feedback. Although I am sure that there is even a few cases that even I would be hardpressed to find something good in. Being passionate about something means that you want to see it through, that you want to make a difference in not only your life, but in the lives of those around you who you love and care about.

There are so many areas where our country is getting away from the basic principles of the Bible, the Constitution, that when we look in a mirror, we don't recognize who we are anymore. The political system has become so corrupted that when it comes to knowing who to elect and who not to elect, all the candidates all look the same. When I see a political ad on TV,  I don't hear the candidate's voice, but the teacher's voice from the Charlie Brown cartoons, "Waaaaa waaaaa waaaaa.....".  The message is lost on me from the beginning and I tend to change the channel or just mute it (which makes the commericals much more interesting!).

Another area that we as a nation are neglecting to the point of abuse is the education of our children. Now, I'm not nor have I been the most outspoken or the most active parent in my child's school, but that's going to change. In the past my mindset was that, "Well, if my son is doing good, then I don't need to get involved", but that is far from the way it should be. Regardless of my son's performance, I still should be actively involved in how his education is being delivered to him. Every parent should be involved in how their children are being educated and how a teacher's credentials should reflect on how they teach. I know that there are a few teachers at Houston County High who should have taken a class in human relations, due in part to the way in which they deal with not only the students, but with their parents as well.  There is no excuse in a teacher referring to student as "dumb", "stupid", or any other word to tear down a student(s). My hope is that my son continues to perform well, graduates from high school and continues to college. But from what I've seen, there seems to be no motiviation in his school to achieve such goals.

But then again, my job as a parent is to always encourage him to do what he wants (within limits, of course! ). As a single parent, I am his sole source of encouragement, love, support, discipline, and finacially. The school is not responsible for discipling my child, I AM~~~~and if there was ever a problem with him, I would expect the school to notify me in an even that he was acting out of character for him. And that's another good point.....character.....something that has gotten lost in the shuffle to obtain the most and the latest technology. Used to be, character defined what makes a person trustworthy, the type of person that others enjoyed being around and even asked advice if needed. When I think of people like that, I think of my grandparents, my parents and a few close friends. Try to find people with really good character outside of your family and you may be surprised how few people you will find.

I'll end this blog with this.........if you are able and you offer to help someone, make sure you can follow through on your offer......the best kind of friend is someone who can be a friend!!!!
